Yes ,This is how this journey in July 1975 started when I went to my middle school at Nakarasar . I neither knew about "A" nor about "apple" . In those times English subject was used to join in course in 6th class . The book was called "Angrezi" ki kitab. I & my other classmates were around 11 to 14 years old when we entered in Six class and that was the age when no pity by a teacher was shown in sparing us from "Budhram". Budhram was a typical Rohida lath for beating the boys who could not mug up the spellings of a particular unit given from Pthiya ( a pocket book )as homework . Our aim at that time was only save us from Budhram( cane). I remember the scenes even today of my english teacher beating us in his white kurta- payajama like goats( once my father came school and heard the sound of beating from out side the classroom & he came to door and asked masterji "Ghona koot rahe ho kya" means sir are beating goats in classroom ".
Anyway I struggleld a lot with English and it's words and prepared myself to face the challenge. Though sometimes felt ashamed of my poor pronunciation, lack of use of proper prepositions, phrasal verbs etc. Also I fought for English at home several times for calling meal as food because my father was an illiterate & in our Rajasthani food is used a term for "dog's shit". Similarly there are much more dogmas which can't be written here.
But now I have been able to write a poetry book in English & my aim was to set a preface to inform you all that from A apple I have completed a journey of R for Rainbow. Hope you will enjoy the book. An interesting poem named" I welcome English" has also been included about my struggle with English. The book is available on Amazon 🙏.
